my inspiration to paint landscapes is my absolute love of nature.
i love the way it looks, feels and smells; its magnificent power
and grace. the beauty of the light from morning to night- how
the intensity of color changes, from the vibrant reds, greens and
magentas. i don’t use pictorial references for my work or
sketches, although i sketch outside all the time, carrying my
watercolor sketch box or my pastels wherever i go. observing the
landscape and painting plien air really has informed howi paint
today. my process varies dramatically. applying the paint depends
on the idea i am trying to convey, moving the painting with my
hands, sticks, large brushes, the back end of my brushes,
painting rags- really anything i can find.
