my blown glass vessels are inspired by ancient ceramic and
glass forms. the design origins are mediterranean.
the surface colors and decorations are found in early
pre-blown glass from egypt and mesopotamia (1500-100 b.c.).
my experimentation with bright colors and gold arises from
roman and byzantine artistry. my background as an
expressionistic painter also influences the finished piece.
my studio in detroit is in the still standing russell industrial
center where the packard automobile was once produced.
my goal is to create a modern artifact that resonates with
the past and future.
