memories of oxbow these photographs were made during the early
1980’s. the photographs document oxbow, an art school in saugatuck
michigan which began in 1910 and is currently affiliated with the school
of the art institute in chicago. these photographs record the creative
spirits which inhabit the architect tural spaces. layers of years and ever
changing use continue to impact its physical spaces just as hundred of
artists have been impacted by their summer experience at oxbow. the
photographs capture a moment in its historic record. visually, light is
the active force which highlights and defines both space and color.
